In a corresponding move Tuesday, the Yankees recalled Bradley Hanner from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. Castro had made three appearances since getting recalled Aug. 3. In that stretch, he allowed no runs on one hit and a 4:2 K:BB across 3.2 innings.

Rodon was touched up for three runs on three hits and two walks over 2.2 innings in his first rehab outing with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday. He threw 46 pitches in the outing, so Rodon needs to get stretched out more before rejoining the Yankees rotation. The veteran left-hander is working his way back from elbow inflammation.

Bellinger has also been able to do some running and throwing as part of his ramp-up process but his timeline to return from the IL remains unchanged. Shortly after Bellinger was placed on the shelf due to a Grade 2 left hamstring strain, manager Aaron Boone said that the reigning All-Star Game MVP would miss approximately 4-to-6 weeks. The short end of that timeframe would give Bellinger a chance to return to action for the Yankees at some point in late August.

In addition to taking live batting practice, Stanton had already been doing some running in the outfield. His ability to begin a baserunning progression represents another step forward as he works his way back from a right calf strain, which has kept him on the shelf since April 28. The Yankees remain optimistic that Stanton will be activated from the injured list before the end of August, but a clearer target date for his return likely won't come into focus until he heads out on a rehab assignment.

Working his way back from July 2025 internal brace surgery, Schmidt threw two innings of live batting practice Tuesday but wasn't able to cover a third inning as planned when his forearm cramped up on him. Fortunately for Schmidt, he appears to have steered clear of any sort of major setback, given that he was cleared to start playing catch after a few days of rest. Assuming he's able to make it through his next bullpen session without issue, Schmidt could be ready to face live hitters again by the end of the week.

Though Judge hasn't been given the green light to take part in baseball activities, a return to light conditioning and strength work still amounts to a major step forward in his recovery process from a stress fracture of the first rib on the right side. The Yankees remain optimistic that Judge will be back from the 60-day injured list at some point later this season, but a more precise timeline for his return won't come into focus until he's further along in his rehab program. Judge has been on the shelf since June 5 due to the injury.
