Injuries
Jacob WilsonDay-To-Day
Wilson (shoulder) is not in the lineup for Thursday's game in San Francisco.
More detail
Wilson was forced to exit Wednesday's contest when he injured his left shoulder on a play at home plate. It's the same shoulder he dislocated earlier this season, costing him a month of action at the time. It's not yet clear whether the apparent aggravation of that injury will lead to another extended absence for Wilson, but it seems to be a good sign that he wasn't placed on the injured list prior to Thursday's contest. Alika Williams is filling in at shortstop in the series finale.
Zack Gelof10-Day-IL
The Athletics placed Gelof on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a right hand contusion.
More detail
Gelof suffered a laceration and contusion when he got his hand stepped on in Tuesday's contest in San Francisco. The injury had seemed relatively minor initially, but Gelof ultimately was unable to avoid the IL. Max Muncy has seen a dip in playing time lately, but he should be back in the lineup on a regular basis while Gelof is sidelined.
Mark Leiter Jr.15-Day-IL
Leiter (hip) began a throwing progression Monday, MLB.com reports.
More detail
Leiter was placed on the injured list Saturday (retroactive to Thursday) due to a right hip impingement, but he didn't require much downtime before resuming throwing. The Athletics are hopeful that the right-hander can return to the big-league club when first eligible July 3. In 29.2 innings this season, Leiter owns a 4.85 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 31:10 K:BB with four saves.
Brent Rooker10-Day-IL
Rooker (knee) is still not participating in any baseball activities as of Tuesday, MLB.com reports.
More detail
Rooker hit the injured list June 12 due to a bone bruise in his left knee and has yet to make much headway in his recovery. The Athletics hope to have a better idea of his status next week, though that suggests a return before the end of June is unlikely. Before being shelved, the veteran hit .200/.281/.389 with 10 homers, 29 RBI, 20 runs and two stolen bases across 48 appearances.
Denzel Clarke60-Day-IL
Clarke (hamstring) has started to play catch and has also begun a swinging progression, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
More detail
Clarke originally landed on the injured list in April due to a bone bruise in his foot, but he strained his left hamstring while playing in a rehab game in late May. He's still expected to remain sidelined through the All-Star break, though his return to activity is an encouraging sign of progress in his recovery. That said, Henry Bolte has filled in admirably as Clarke's replacement in center field, so the latter may not have much of an impact on the big club once he's activated.
Luis Severino60-Day-IL
The Athletics transferred Severino (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.
More detail
The right-hander landed on the injured list in late May due to a shoulder strain and was scheduled to be evaluated in 4-to-6 weeks, so he already seemed likely to spend more than 60 days on the shelf. Now three weeks into his recovery, Severino could be re-evaluated within the next week or two, at which point a target date for his return could begin to come into focus.
Wei-En LinOut
Lin (quadriceps) has allowed three earned runs on four hits and four walks while striking out eight batters over 10.1 innings in two starts for Double-A Midland since being reinstated from the 7-day injured list May 20.
More detail
The 20-year-old lefty missed about two weeks of action due to a left quad strain. One of the Athletics' top pitching prospects, Lin could soon be ready for a promotion to Triple-A Las Vegas after turning in a 2.03 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 51:13 K:BB in 44.1 innings through his first nine starts with Midland.
Brooks Kriske60-Day-IL
Kriske (shoulder) began a throwing progression Thursday, MLB.com reports.
More detail
Kriske landed on the injured list May 13 due to a right shoulder impingement and had previously been shut down from throwing. Beginning a throwing progression is a step in the right direction, though it's just the first of many as the right-hander works his way back to full health. Having been transferred to the 60-day injured list June 2, Kriske isn't eligible to be activated until after the All-Star break.
Gunnar Hoglund60-Day-IL
Hoglund (knee/back) will be sidelined for the rest of the 2026 season after undergoing surgery on his left hip Monday.
More detail
It's the same procedure that Hoglund underwent in June of 2025, which also caused him to miss the rest of the season. He opened the 2026 season on the IL due to a sprained right knee and a lumbar spine strain and was given a cortisone shot for his left hip in early May. However, his hip injury was severe enough to necessitate another procedure, but the added time on the shelf should allow his knee and back to also recover. Hoglund will be sidelined for the rest of the 2026 campaign and will aim to be fully healthy for spring training.
