Garcia has been on the injured list since June 22 with a strained muscle in his left hand, and he suffered a setback in a rehab appearance with Double-A Northwest Arkansas on July 28. Manager Matt Quatraro said Sunday that the 26-year-old was on track to begin a rehab assignment Wednesday, and he now appears to be on track to do exactly that. Garcia hasn't been able to replicate his success from a breakout 2025 campaign, but he still owns a respectable .261 average with three home runs, 30 RBI, 32 runs scored and five stolen bases over 69 contests with the Royals this season.

Pasquantino, who landed on the 10-day injured list July 29 due to wrist soreness, should only need a handful of at-bats at Triple-A before being activated from the shelf. If all goes according to plan, it seems likely that he'll be back with the big-league club before the end of the week.

The 24-year-old was placed on the injured list Sunday due to forearm tightness, but further evaluation apparently revealed a torn UCL. Avila will miss the rest of this year and is also likely to be sidelined for the full 2027 season. He made 21 appearances (12 starts) for Kansas City prior to the injury and had a 5.53 ERA, 1.61 WHIP and 61:42 K:BB over 70 innings this season. Avila will likely be shifted to the 60-day injured list in the near future.

Mears has been sidelined since May 29 due to a right shoulder impingement and has dealt with multiple setbacks in his recovery, but after resuming a throwing program July 29, the right-hander is nearing a return to mound work. The 29-year-old will almost certainly need a rehab assignment before being activated, but if no new setbacks arise during his progression, a return before the end of August is possible. On the year, Mears owns a 5.12 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 15:11 K:BB across 19.1 innings.

Estevez started a throwing program July 17 and is nearing a return to mound work as his rehab from a right rotator cuff strain continues. Progressing to throwing off the mound is a positive step, though the right-hander will need to check more boxes, including facing hitters and embarking on a rehab assignment, before returning to the Royals becomes a real possibility. The veteran has been on the injured list for virtually the entire season, hitting the shelf April 1 after just one regular-season appearance due to a left foot contusion.

Way was placed on the injured list July 28 due to low-back spasms and tightness but seemingly doesn't need more than about a week of rest before resuming throwing. Assuming no setbacks arise during Wednesday's session, the right-hander appears to be on track to avoid an extended IL stint. In 23.1 innings with the big-league club, Way has posted a 3.86 ERA, 1.59 WHIP and 21:10 K:BB.

The right-hander headed for a second opinion on his strained right forearm last week and is now set to go under the knife. The full scope of the procedure isn't clear, but if it's standard Tommy John surgery, Kolek will miss the rest of the season and will likely be sidelined for the entirety of the 2027 campaign.

Seabold had to be pulled from an appearance Tuesday against the Rays because of the injury. The severity of the strain is unclear, but even a mild one could result in longer than a minimum 15-day absence. Seabold has pitched for three different teams this season, collecting a 5.25 ERA and 20:11 K:BB across 24 frames.

It was unknown what type of procedure Ragans would need when the Royals announced last weekend that he was scheduled for surgery. Now confirmed to have undergone UCL repair surgery, the 28-year-old southpaw will officially miss the remainder of the season and is likely to remain out until midway through the 2027 campaign. He'll close the book on 2026 after putting up a 4.84 ERA and 1.42 WHIP alongside a 45:23 K:BB through 35.1 innings over eight starts.

McArthur missed all of 2025 while recovering from right elbow surgery and was considered healthy entering spring training, but he suffered a setback and has remained on the injured list with right elbow inflammation, prompting Friday's procedure. There's no timeline for the right-hander's return to action, as his recovery from the surgery and how he feels in the near future will dictate the next steps in the rehab process.

Marsh missed all of 2025 due to shoulder problems, and after undergoing surgery in November to address the issue, he's expected to miss the entire 2026 campaign as well. His move to the 60-day IL clears space on the 40-man roster for Mitch Spence, whom the Royals acquired in a trade with the Athletics on Thursday.

Bachman landed on the 15-day injured list Wednesday due to right forearm radial nerve inflammation, though it's a positive sign that he's already been cleared to resume throwing. Assuming he checks out fine after tossing Monday, he'll likely be asked to throw again later in the week and could resume mound work in the near future.

Bollinger notes that Rivero's hand wasn't responding as well as the team had hoped while out on his rehab assignment. He'll likely be shut down for at least the next few days before being re-evaluated. Rivero has been on the shelf since June 10 after suffering a left hamate fracture.

The southpaw built up to 69 pitches Sunday, and though he appears to be stretched out enough to handle a traditional starting role, the Angels may want him to show improved results in the minors before adding him back to the big-league rotation. Kikuchi has looked shaky in all three of his rehab outings thus far, compiling a 15.75 ERA, 2.63 WHIP and 16:6 K:BB in eight innings.

Moncada underwent right knee surgery in mid-June and was consequently placed on the 60-day IL. While the veteran third baseman is expected to return this season, a definitive timeline isn't clear given his inability to resume baseball activities to this point. Denzer Guzman and Vaughn Grissom have been sharing duties at the hot corner for the Angels of late.

That's obviously good news for the right-handed hurler, who went under the knife in mid-June. Kochanowicz will be out for the remainder of this season and for at least a portion of 2027, though he could potentially return to action late in the campaign. He posted a 6.19 ERA, 1.58 WHIP and 47:36 K:BB over 64 frames spanning 13 starts this season before being sidelined.

Stephenson was placed on the 60-day injured list prior to Opening Day due to right elbow inflammation, an issue that cropped up during spring training. He had initially been eased into workouts during camp after he had experienced symptoms of thoracic outlet syndrome over the winter. While Stephenson was able to avoid another UCL reconstruction surgery after previously requiring the procedure in May 2024, the 33-year-old right-hander is nonetheless on track to miss his second full season since signing a three-year, $33 million deal with the Angels following the 2023 campaign. The contract includes a $2.5 million club option for 2027, so the Angels could still look to bring him back next season if they're satisfied with where he stands in the rehab process.

Rendon agreed to a buyout with the Angels in December and won't play this season. However, he will remain on the team's official roster and presumably spend the entire year on the 60-day IL.
