Bassitt built up to 83 pitches (51 strikes) in the third and most likely final start of his minor-league rehab assignment. Over his three outings with Norfolk, Bassitt submitted a 1.98 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 12:4 K:BB In 13.2 innings. He's expected to return from the 60-day injured list to slot into the rotation this weekend during the Orioles' series at Tampa Bay. The Orioles already cleared a spot in the rotation for Bassitt by optioning lefty Cade Povich to Triple-A Norfolk on Monday.

On the shelf for the second time this season due to a right elbow injury, Helsley looks like he'll be eased along slowly during his rehab program. He's expected to gradually increase his throwing distance off flat ground for the next two weeks before he begins throwing bullpen sessions. After that, Helsey will then need to resume facing hitters and complete a rehab assignment before potentially making his return to the Baltimore bullpen. Given the multiple hurdles Helsley still needs to clear, he doesn't appear likely to make it back from the 60-day injured list until at least early September.

Alexander told reporters after Friday's session that he's hoping to progress to a hitting program next week when the Orioles are in Minnesota for a three-game series against the Twins. Baltimore should have a better sense of Alexander's recovery timeline once he's cleared to take the next step in his recovery. He was in the midst of a strong 2026 season prior to his injury with an .807 OPS with nine steals (in 12 attempts), four home runs and 29 RBI over 244 plate appearances.

Bautista is still working his way back from labrum and rotator cuff surgery and has a chance to make his 2026 debut toward the tail end of the season. The 31-year-old has pitched in just 35 games since the end of the 2023 campaign.

The 21-year-old was shut down in late July after receiving an injection to help his right shoulder inflammation, and he appears close to being cleared for most baseball activities. Given that he'll require a rehab assignment and still has at least a few steps before getting to that point, Basallo is tracking toward a return from the injured list in the second half of August.

He's been shelved for the entire 2026 and opted for surgery following multiple opinions. The procedure will knock Selby out for the remainder of this season, and he's expected to get a late start to next season, as well.

Mountcastle, who has not played since April 11, will miss even more time after straining his oblique prior to his first rehab game. Orioles general manager Mike Elias said they "can't expect him back anytime soon." The 29-year-old is now unlikely to play again this season after registering just eight games played from late March to early April.

Dr. Keith Meister performed the surgery after Akin sought out a second opinion on his left elbow. He was originally diagnosed with inflammation, but the problem was obviously much worse. Akin will miss the remainder of the 2026 season and likely most of the 2027 campaign. The 31-year-old appeared in 24 games (two starts) for the Orioles this season, logging a 5.68 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 17:9 K:BB across 25.1 innings.

Westburg's procedure will keep him out for the remainder of the 2026 campaign, but general manager Mike Elias said Friday that the 27-year-old infielder has a good chance to return to playing in the field full-time by early 2027. Until then, Coby Mayo will likely take over as Baltimore's primary third baseman, though Jeremiah Jackson, Blaze Alexander and Weston Wilson are also candidates to make an occasional start at the hot corner.

After tossing two innings in a simulated game Thursday, McClanahan was flawless Tuesday in the next step of his recovery. The left-hander threw 30 pitches in the outing and averaged 95.7 mph with his fastball, which is right on par with his season average. McClanahan is working his way back from left mid-back tightness, and it's possible his next appearance will come in the major leagues.

Jax was placed on the 15-day injured list with right elbow discomfort Sunday, and manager Kevin Cash outlined that the injection was to "calm the back of the elbow down." Cash also explained that Jax is "in a really good spot," and that the team will, "take the ball out of his hand for two more days and then get him back throwing." Jax appears to have avoided the worst, and he could be on track for a return to action relatively close to when he's first eligible Aug. 21.

Lux's most recent setback saw him get shut down in mid-July after receiving an injection in his right shoulder. His initial rehab assignment in April was halted by a sprained left ankle, and the infielder was later pulled off another minor-league stint with left shoulder inflammation. The Rays haven't officially ruled out Lux for the remainder of the year, but his status for the rest of 2026 is in major doubt.

Williamson tweaked his hamstring during Wednesday's game against the Rockies, and the injury is severe enough for him to require a stint on the injured list. A minimum stint on the IL would have Williamson on track to return mid-August, but hamstring strains typically take a longer time to recover from. Carson Williams was recalled from Triple-A Durham in a corresponding move to bolster the Rays' infield depth in Williamson's absence.

The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for right-hander Freddy Peralta, whom the Rays acquired in a deal with the Mets. Fraley had already been on the shelf since May 17 while recovering from hernia surgery, so his move to the 60-day IL won't affect his timeline to rejoin the big club. The outfielder was pulled off a rehab assignment in early July after experiencing some discomfort in his groin area, and it's unclear when he might be ready to return to action in the minors.

Tampa Bay recalled right-hander Chris Roycroft from Triple-A Durham to take over Sulser's spot in the bullpen. Sulser, who owns a 4.86 ERA and 1.32 WHIP over 46.1 innings with the Rays on the season, will be eligible to come off the IL on Aug. 10.

Rodriguez served up a home run to the first batter he faced since last August's flexor surgery, but he then rebounded to fan the next three hitters. The 29-year-old will need several rehab outings as he preps for a return to the Rays' bullpen. Rodriguez posted a 2.12 ERA and 59:17 K:BB over 68 innings the last two seasons for Tampa Bay, so he could provide a nice boost to the relief corps if he can regain his pre-surgery form.

Uceta has been limited to four rehab appearances due to a right shoulder strain and has remained shut down since he suffered a setback in late May. It's unclear whether surgery to address the injury is a possibility, but even if a procedure isn't on the table, Uceta is nowhere close to being ready to pitch in a game.

Heasley was outrighted to Triple-A Durham on Saturday, but because he suffered his injury during his time with the Rays, he'll be placed on the Rays' 15-day injured list and also reclaim a spot on the 40-man roster. The 29-year-old righty gave up five earned runs in four innings during his lone outing with Tampa and will likely be outrighted to Triple-A again once he's healthy.

The right-hander landed on the injured list with hip inflammation late in spring training and was transferred to the 60-day injured list in mid-April after suffering a setback. Pepiot received an injection after the setback, but his hip felt "unstable" when playing catch a few days later, and he'll now end up missing the entirety of the 2026 campaign.
