Santillan attemped to pitch through the injury the last couple weeks before officially shutting things down Tuesday. The Reds expect to have a better idea as to Santillan's rehab timeline following the procedure. He finished with a 6.42 ERA and 36:28 K:BB over 40.2 innings in 2026.

Steer has missed most of the second half with a partial tear of the tendon sheath in his wrist. He tried rehabbing the injury and was ramping up baseball activities lately, but ultimately the 28-year-old was unable to avoid surgery. Steer is expected to be 100 percent recovered in time for the start of spring training.

Burns used the sinker nine times in his last start against the Cubs, with the purpose of giving his fastball another look. "It was moving a lot," Burns said. "Why not? My normal fastball is a cut-carry. This looks different to them. Having two fastballs is the big new thing. You look at Cam Schlittler. He has a cutter, a fastball and a sinker."

It's unclear whether Garcia will need surgery, but even if he doesn't his season is officially over. The 31-year-old has had a nice rookie season out of the Reds' bullpen, logging a 3.13 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 41:19 K:BB over 46 frames.

Dunn was already out for the season following internal brace surgery in August, and he's now set to undergo an additional operation on his elbow. The first surgery left Dunn a question mark for Opening Day next year, and it's possible Wednesday's procedure lengthens his timeline.

The move clears space on the 40-man roster for the addition of Carlos Jorge. Toglia is out for the season after undergoing recent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his right shoulder.

The Reds had previously disclosed that Greene would require another operation on his elbow, and he ended up needing a full Tommy John repair. The right-hander's first Tommy John surgery came back in 2019, and he also had a procedure on his elbow earlier this year to remove bone chips. Greene will be out through the end of the 2027 season.

Surgery was ruled out, but Cease will take some downtime over the next several weeks to allow the inflammation in his shoulder to subside. He still expects to be ready for the start of spring training in 2027. A Cy Young candidate throughout much of the campaign, Cease finishes the 2026 season with a 2.40 ERA, 1.10 WHIP and 239 strikeouts across 29 starts and 169 innings.

Santander had been working his way back from left shoulder surgery, advancing to a rehab assignment earlier this month. However, he had a back issue crop up during his assignment, and the Blue Jays ultimately decided to have him get an early start on his offseason training. Santander did not make a single big-league appearance this season and has totaled just 54 regular-season games played in his first two years with Toronto.

Bieber is scheduled to throw a side session Saturday, and the Blue Jays are hoping that the veteran right-hander can return if the team qualifies for the playoffs. Bieber continues to recover from right teres major inflammation that landed him on the 15-day injured list in late August.

Taillon is hopeful that an injection or two along with an offseason to rest and rehab will get his right elbow back to health. It was thought at one point the right-hander could return before the regular season concluded as the Blue Jays make a push for the final wild-card spot in the American League, but that possibility has now been officially ruled out.

The 30-year-old Martin is receiving his first-ever promotion to the big leagues after spending 12 years in the minors. Martin was claimed off waivers by the Blue Jays in July, was removed from the 40-man roster in August and has now made his way back onto the roster. It's a nice story a perseverance, but Martin might not play much down the stretch.

Schneider's comments come as little surprise, as Ponce's 2026 campaign was already expected to be over after he tore the ACL in his right knee in his Blue Jays debut March 30 and required surgery a few weeks later. On a positive note, the fact that Ponce hasn't completely been ruled out from pitching if the Blue Jays make a deep playoff run suggests that his recovery has thus far gone smoothly, and he's on track to be 100 percent for spring training. Ponce is under contract through 2028 after signing a three-year, $30 million deal with the Blue Jays back in December following an outstanding 2025 season in the Korea Baseball Organization.

Corbin was placed on the shelf July 23 due to a left teres major strain and has yet to start up a throwing program more than six weeks later. Even if Corbin turns a corner in his recovery in the next week or two, he doesn't look like he'll have enough time to build back up even for a relief role. The 37-year-old lefty looks set to finish the 2026 campaign with a 3-4 record and one save to go with a 5.51 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 63:25 K:BB across 80 innings over 19 appearances (15 starts) with Toronto. Corbin will be headed for free agency this winter, and if he wants to keep his career going, he'll likely have to settle for a minor-league deal.

Clase has been on the injured list since July 22 due to left foot plantar fasciitis. His earliest eligibility to return is Sept. 20, which means there's a chance he will not make another big league appearance in 2026. The outfielder was transferred to the 60-day injured list to make room on the 40-man roster for the signing of Michael Lorenzen.

The right-hander was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome in early August, but it wasn't previously known whether he would require surgery. Garcia was pulled from a minor-league rehab assignment on three different occasions this year, and he'll end up not pitching at the big-league level in 2026. He turned 36 years old last week and will become a free agent after the season. Even if Garcia is physically capable of returning to the mound in 2027, he may not generate significant interest in free agency at this stage of his career while coming off major surgery and a lost season.

The transaction clears a spot on the Blue Jays' 40-man roster for the addition of waiver claim Paul Sewald. Bloss had been shelved at Triple-A for the past month due to the injury, and while he should be ready to go for the start of the 2027 season, he's not expected to pitch again in 2026, per MLB.com.

Urias landed on the 10-day injured list last Friday with a right quad strain, and he's looking at a fairly lengthy absence. The infielder will need time to ramp back up following a two-week shutdown period and should eventually require a rehab assignment, likely putting him on the shelf for at least a month or so.

The good news is Barger did not require a full Tommy John repair, which means he is expected to be ready in time for the start of spring training as long as his rehab proceeds smoothly. Barger played only nine games for the Blue Jays this season due to injuries.

The Blue Jays and Berrios went into the operation unsure whether the pitcher would require a ligament repair, and as it turns out he required a full UCL procedure. Berrios has been sidelined all season with elbow problems and will now likely be shelved until at least the second half of the 2027 campaign.

Francis will miss the entire 2026 season after the Blue Jays recently revealed that he would need reconstructive surgery on his right elbow, so his move to the 60-day IL was merely procedural. The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for infielder Ben Cowles, whom the Blue Jays claimed off waivers from the Cubs.
