Waldrep will join the big-league 60-day IL to free up space on the 40-man roster for Elieser Hernandez, who was selected to the 28-man roster Thursday. Waldrep is slated to miss the entire 2027 campaign after undergoing Tommy John surgery on his right elbow.

Perez had a hard time finding the zone Sunday, landing only 45 of his 79 pitches for strikes, but he kept Houston in check with eight groundouts. The veteran southpaw has been a serviceable member of the Atlanta rotation, giving up two earned runs or fewer in eight of his last 10 outings. Perez, who has a quality 3.04 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 102:62 K:BB over 142 innings, is scheduled to finish his regular season in Miami.

Thomas was diagnosed with a left intercostal strain late last week, but he was cleared to swing a bat shortly after that following a cortisone injection. Atlanta believes Thomas could be ready to return early on during the postseason.

It's clear that Lopez hasn't been himself since returning from the injured list after working through a bout of knee inflammation, and it appears as though Atlanta will place him on the shelf, which would end his 2026 regular season. Weiss noted after the game that the right-hander experience discomfort in his shoulder during Monday's start, per Jesus Cano of The Athletic, so expect a formal decision to come from the team Tuesday.

It will be the first game appearance for Jimenez since the end of the 2024 campaign, as he's worked his way back from multiple knee surgeries. Atlanta has not ruled out adding Jimenez to its bullpen before the end of the regular season, but it will depend on how he looks and feels in his rehab outings.

Elder had his knee scoped Tuesday and will miss the remainder of the regular season, though he's aiming to be available at some point during the playoffs. If he does return for the postseason, it would likely be in a relief role. The right-hander has posted a 4.11 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 121:49 K:BB over 149 innings covering 26 starts for Atlanta this season.

Strider has been shelved since mid-June with right elbow inflammation. He resumed a throwing progression earlier this month, and while the team has not yet officially ruled out a return this season for the right-hander, Bowman says "the assumption since June" is that Strider will not make it back.

Schwellenbach missed the final three months of last season with the injury, and it seems the fracture never properly healed. He has been sidelined this season following surgery in February to remove bone spurs from his elbow. There's no word yet on the timeline for Schwellenbach, but it's possible he will not be ready in time for the start of the 2027 season.

The 33-year-old outfielder was handed the suspension in early March, and the ban is now official with the appeal process completed. It's the second straight season with a PED suspension for Profar, who will also be ineligible to play in the postseason.

The transaction clears a 40-man roster spot for waiver pick Osvaldo Bido. Wentz will miss the entire 2026 campaign after undergoing surgery earlier this month to repair a torn ACL in his right knee.

It's the fifth straight absence for Edwards, who aggravated his left thumb injury last week. The Marlins have resisted putting Edwards back on the injured list, but it seems unlikely at this point that he'll return before the curtains close on the regular season. Jared Serna is getting another start at second base Friday in Edwards' stead.

Bender was never able to properly rehab his injury after landing on the injured list in late June, so he'll now opt for the surgical route. The Marlins will likely have more information regarding his recovery timeline following his procedure.

Fairbanks was ruled out for the season upon landing on the injured list Tuesday with nerve irritation in his right hand, and now that he's confirmed to be dealing with thoracic outlet syndrome, he'll go under the knife to treat the issue. A timeline for his return should emerge after his procedure, though he'll likely have to sit out the first portion of the 2027 campaign.

Meyer landed on the 15-day injured list just after the All-Star break because of a neck strain. He resumed throwing earlier this month in a last-ditch effort to make a late-season return, but the decision has been made to shut the right-hander down. Meyer will undergo further evaluation before the next steps of his rehab are determined, but it seems at this juncture that the 27-year-old should be ready to roll by spring training. The righty will finish the 2026 season with a 2.68 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 121:41 K:BB over a career-high 111 innings.

Caissie was initially diagnosed with hamstring tightness after being removed from Saturday's game against the Dodgers. However, further tests have revealed a lower-back injury for the 24-year-old outfielder, and he won't be eligible to return until the last week of the regular season. Xavier Edwards (thumb) was reinstated from the 10-day IL in a corresponding move, and Esteury Ruiz figures to see more playing time in the outfield for as long as Caissie is sidelined.

Arm specialist Dr. Keith Meister will perform Nardi's surgery, but the Marlins aren't expected to provide specifics on the procedure until the operation is completed. If Nardi requires a UCL repair or reconstruction rather than something less significant such as a flexor tendon surgery, he'll likely wind up missing the entire 2027 season. Nardi posted a 5.16 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 27:11 K:BB while collecting three wins and eight holds over 22.2 innings with Miami this season before hitting the shelf May 30.

The transaction clears space on the 40-man roster for the addition of Logan Driscoll. Kempner recently underwent UCL surgery on his right elbow and will be sidelined, at minimum, until late in the 2027 season.

Snelling is out for the season after undergoing internal brace surgery in May to repair a UCL tear in his left elbow. The fact that Miami has already planned the beginning of his throwing program is a good sign that his recovery is going well, but the left-hander may still have to miss the first few months of the 2027 campaign before returning to the rotation.

Mazur is already set to miss the entire 2026 campaign after undergoing UCL reconstruction surgery with an internal brace in March, but starting a throwing program in September keeps the door open for him to return at the start of the 2027 campaign.

Henriquez has already been ruled out for the entirety of the 2026 campaign after undergoing UCL reconstruction surgery in the offseason, but the fact that he's now playing catch is a very encouraging sign of progress. Assuming his rehab continues smoothly, he should be ready for the start of spring training in 2027.
